Another road trip adventure underway and our first Harvest Hosts stop is Bumbleberry Acres Farm near South Haven, Michigan. After reading reviews, our expectations are high. And, after eating some of the best blueberry pie ever, well, it deserves a blog.
But first, a quick recap on our plans. We’re heading to Montana for a photo trip in our NuCamp Tab 400 Boondock camper. Since we’re on limited return time due to schedules, we’re taking the long way out with both Harvest Hosts and camping stops along the way. However, the return trip is a straight line shot.
There’s a time for camping in the wilderness and rustic campgrounds. Yes, there’s a time for stopping at a full service campground like a KOA. And then, there’s Harvest Hosts time. Each one night stop over along the journey continues to offer unique and wonderful experiences.
We’re both believers in that investing time off the beaten path is as much, if not more fun, as the destination. That’s where Harvest Hosts and now Bumbleberry Acres come in to play.
Bumbleberry Acres Farm: Eat, Play, Love
Now, play is the operative word here. The moment we arrived, we received an in person welcome showing us where to park. With the grass parking field right next to luscious rows of blueberries, we leveled and set up quickly. Then we were off to explore.
In the store, both Morgan and Bart eagerly share info about the farm and their personal contributions to the grounds, hand painted playground, gardens and how they greet guests.
Eat
First, we wandered in the Bumbleberry Acres store where local, farm fresh zucchini, squash, tomatoes were are bright as the welcoming Morgan and Bart in the store.
Add in blueberries and more blueberries. Fresh pints, quarts and boxes of blueberries. Blueberry cake, pies and other treats filled our eyes! Oh yeah, picking them in the field is an option too.
With fresh veggies, blueberries and blueberry pie, we knew our dinner at the festive yellow picnic table by our camper was going to be deliciously delightful.
Were our eyes, bigger than our stomachs? Not in this case.
Play time at Bumbleberry Acres Farm
Second, it was a return to childhood moment spending time petting goats, sheep, donkeys.
Then a walk through large cut paths leading to wildflowers, pumpkin patches, corn and other crops. With birds singing from wildflower perches, to a very warm Michigan breeze, ah, let the first night of our trip begin.
Lastly, after our savory zucchini and quinoa dinner, fireflies dotted our sunset walk with our pups.
Love
Last, as we’re only four hours into our adventure out west, our first stop already feels days away from home.
The need to rush from point A to point B is, well, pointless. If we’re wanting adventure, why not make each stopover an experience to remember and talk about?

That’s exactly the experience Bumbleberry Acres Farm and Harvests Hosts delivers. We love travel.
