We cleaned our dusty, dirty Dometic Fan in our nuCamp Tab 400 this morning. Seriously, it took less than 5 minutes and it’s squeaky clean. It’s just 5 steps, including putting it back together.
Today, we’re in the middle of our camping trip in our new nuCamp Tab 400 Boondock RV. Our camping and glamping travels cover bookdock overnights at Harvest Hosts locations, campgrounds and dispersed camping. Plus, when you add that we’re camping in dry, west desert terrain with winds, there’s the dust and heat factor. (See the list of a few locations below).
Add in that I cook a lot of skillet meals – our ceiling fan in our camper gets dirty. So, how do you clean your nuCamp Dometic fan? Read on!
Clean Your nuCamp Dometic Fan in 5 Easy Steps:
We are providing you a link to our new YouTube 3 minute video or use the 5 steps in the list below:
5 Steps to Clean Your Dometic Fan
- Remove the screen by finding the groove. Pull on the groove, when it starts to separate, then gently pull along the edges and your screen will pop off. Total time: 10 seconds
- Unscrew the screw in the middle of the fan (phillips head screwdriver needed, do not use battery/electronic powered tools). Total time: 10 seconds
- Pull of the blades. Take the screen and blades to your sink, hose, etc and gently wash with Dawn soap (great for greasy, sticky blades). Also clean the wall area where the blades reside with a clean wet cloth or paper towels. That area gets dirty too. Total time: a couple of minutes for soaking and gently cleaning.
- To re-assemble, place the blades back on the fan base. Note: the area where the blade connects to the base needs to be lined up! Both are slightly keyed. This was the most tedious part. Then using the phillips head, take the screw and gently tighten. Do not over tighten or strip the screw. Total time: 45 seconds
- Place the screen back. You’ll need to pop each area (there’s 8 notches) gently in. Run your finger along the edges to ensure it’s in all the way around. Total time: 20 seconds
That’s it! Your fan is clean and you’re ready to get it dirty again. Outside of the soaking time, the work time took all of 75-80 seconds.
Travel, cooking, windows wide open, breezes and dust, it’s all part of the camping and glamping experience!
